The art of the painter Vincent Van Gogh will return to life in the upcoming film premiering Loving Vincent, which is the first film made with the technique of oil following the characteristic style of the Dutch painter.

At this time, only the trailer has been released, and although the film remains in production process in the Polish city of Gdansk, this (the trailer) already viral.

“Loving Vincent” is a biopic of the famous painter Dutch but counted as original and appropriate for an artist of its features: through his own pictures, recreated and painted by hand, has been given to that movement. The result is – or as seen in the trailer that will be – a stunning Ribbon of animation that reviews the career of the painter with delicacy and originality.

The story, which is based on 800 letters from the painter that have served to develop the script, reflects the artist’s troubled life. A life full of misunderstandings and artistic rejects, dislikes, and economic hardship that did live practically in poverty during a part of his life.

More than 100 painters worked to imitate 120 pictures of the painter in constant motion, to create an expressionist reality that has never been seen. The film, in addition to presenting us the most intimate facet of the painter, delves into the mysterious death of Van Gogh.

This project, which has been in production for more than one year, is directed by Dorota Kobiela Polish painter and filmmaker Hugh Welchman and produced by BreakThru Films and Trademark Films.

Loving Vincent boasts the voices of Aidan Turner, Saoirse Ronan, Eleanor Tomlinson, Helen McCrory, Chris O’Dowd and Douglas Booth and its soundtrack is composed by Clint Mansell, responsible for the music in films like Requiem for a dream (Darren Aronofsky, 2000) or Black Swan (Darren Aronofsky, 2010).

So far we only know that the release will be in 2017 in the United Kingdom.
