‘Being Human’ Star Aidan Turner Preps for ‘Hobbit Boot Camp’?

Irish actor Aidan Turner is keeping extra busy these days. While balancing his regular duties as the foxy vampire Mitchell on BBC America‘s Being Human, Turner is gearing up for his part in Peter Jackson‘s The Hobbit.

Filming for The Hobbit is already underway and the handsome 27-year-old, who will play the cheery dwarf Kili in the forthcoming Lord of the Rings prequels, is fully prepared to take it all on.

“We’re all off to Hobbit boot camp,” Turner told The Metro. “I’m not sure what it entails but I think it lasts a few weeks and gets us all fit for filming.”

Turner goes on to explain that while he’s fully aware of the huge success surrounding the Lord of the Rings trilogy and its cast, he’s not consuming himself with the idea that the same should happen to him once The Hobbit arrives in theaters in 2012.

“I don’t speculate too much about the future,” he said. “That’s the thing about this job – it’s so fickle. You take the jobs, you read the scripts and, if something interests you and you like the people who are working on it, you go for it. If not, you take a break. I could be back in Ireland, Britain or America afterwards. It’s so variable but very exciting.”

And don’t think Turner is one to embrace the supernatural side of things like his Being Human character does. He thinks it’s all “rubbish”. But should he ever find himself conjuring spirits in a dark room, there is one particular person he’d like to reach out to, oddly enough.

“J.R.R. Tolkien, that’d be handy. I’ve got a couple of questions I’d like to ask him right now!”
